We Can’t Breathe, the short film by Winters Rock Entertainment, has won the Ophelia Award in honor of Dakota Ophelia Berg at the Cleveland International Film Festival.
Other films to win the audiences’ favor included; Jacob Reed’s GUM (Best Narrative Short Film); Kris Bowers and Ben Proudfoot A CONCERTO IS A CONVERSATION (Best Documentary Short Film); Miranda Winters and Rocky Romano’s WE CAN’T BREATHE (Best Music Video); and Justice Whitaker’s RESTRICTIONS APPLY (Best Central Coast Film).
TEAR IT DOWN: DISMANTLING WHITE SUPREMACY Will take a look at people organizing and taking action to tear down systems of oppression. There will be stories of activists organizing to fight white supremacy in the many forms it takes, whether that is hair discrimination, mass incarceration, or continued disrespect for indigenous communities and their sacred land.
Global queer TV network Revry celebrates Black History Month with an entire month of Black queer content made by and for the community. Programming begins Feb.1 with the premiere of documentaries “We Can’t Breathe,” “Voguing the Message” and “Heavenly Brown Body.”
Black History Month 2021 is different from previous years, for obvious reasons. Broadcasters, cable channels and streamers are marking the annual celebration with themed programming including series, documentaries and specials.

Written in isolation, ‘Storm’ compelled award-winning directors Rocky Romano and Miranda Winters (Winters Rock Entertainment) to reach out to Kiesza to work with her to create a powerful short film to help first responders amid the COVID-19 pandemic. ‘Storm’ will also be released to all digital streaming platforms on April 23.
The Hideaway star Kiesza, 31, joined forces with directors Rocky Romano and Miranda Winters to create a music video for her song Storm, which she wrote in self-isolation.
